Circul’Egg presents several human skin studies, but in our literature review as of 27 August 2026, we did not identify a peer-reviewed scientific publication corresponding to these studies that would allow the protocol and results to be fully verified. What is eggshell membrane?

The membrane is the thin film located between the shell and the egg white. Circul’Egg recovers this material from the egg-products industry and describes a patented mechanical process for Reggenerate™ designed to separate and upcycle the membrane.

Its composition distinguishes it from a marine or bovine collagen hydrolysate: the membrane is a complex matrix, not a powder made only of collagen peptides. The natural presence of several connective-tissue components describes the raw material; on its own, it does not demonstrate a clinical benefit after ingestion.

Why can’t 300 mg be compared directly with several grams of collagen?

Milligrams measure mass, not “collagen potency”. Reggenerate™ and a collagen hydrolysate differ in composition, processing and study dossier. It would therefore be misleading to claim that 300 mg of membrane is equivalent to a given number of grams of marine or bovine collagen.

At Eclo, 300 mg is the daily dose selected for this ingredient. That figure should be read together with the identity of the ingredient and the quality of the available evidence.

What human studies does Circul’Egg present?

The manufacturer’s website presents, among others:

  • a proprietary 60-day consumer test in 60 participants;
  • a study described as randomized and double-blind, conducted for 60 days in 50 participants, with claimed findings on water loss, firmness, elasticity and “skin fatigue”;
  • a second study described as randomized and double-blind, conducted for 12 weeks in 68 participants, with claimed findings including hair, complexion and crow’s-feet wrinkles.

This information indicates that the supplier presents a human-data dossier. A commercial webpage, however, does not allow the randomization method, exact comparator, prespecified endpoints, analyses, missing data, funding and conflicts of interest to be checked. For that reason, Eclo does not reproduce the commercial percentages here as if they came from an independent publication.

How does Eclo classify this level of evidence?

Proprietary study on the ingredient. Until a full report or identifiable scientific publication is publicly accessible, these studies are not classified at the same level as a published trial whose methods and results can be inspected by anyone.

This caution does not mean the data are false. It means their external verifiability is lower. If a publication corresponding precisely to these trials becomes available, this page should be updated.

What the composition does not allow us to conclude

  • The presence of collagen in the membrane does not mean it is deposited intact in the dermis after ingestion.
  • A matrix containing hyaluronic acid and GAGs does not automatically “rebuild” the extracellular matrix.
  • Data on Reggenerate™ do not prove that all eggshell-membrane ingredients are interchangeable.
  • A study on the ingredient is not a study on Régénère™ or Collagen 300 mg.

Upcycling and efficacy: two different types of evidence

Upcycling a co-product from the egg industry is sourcing and circularity information. It is not evidence of skin efficacy. Eclo therefore separates sustainability, raw-material quality and clinical evidence.

Is Reggenerate™ vegetarian or vegan?

Reggenerate™ comes from egg, so it is animal-derived and not vegan. A plant-based HPMC capsule shell does not change the origin of the active ingredient. The finished-product label remains the reference for allergen information.

Is Reggenerate™ marine collagen?

No. It comes from eggshell membrane.

Is 300 mg of Reggenerate™ equivalent to several grams of hydrolyzed collagen?

No such equivalence can be established. They are different raw materials, and mass alone cannot compare their effects.

Are the Reggenerate™ skin studies published in a scientific journal?

We did not identify a peer-reviewed publication corresponding to the skin studies presented by Circul’Egg during this review. We therefore classify them as manufacturer/proprietary data.
