TRAACS® / Albion® magnesium bisglycinate: form and elemental dose explained
In brief. Magnesium bisglycinate combines magnesium with glycine. Eclo uses a TRAACS® / Albion® Minerals bisglycinate. To read a formula correctly, the weight of the raw material must be distinguished from the amount of elemental magnesium: Régénère™ provides 300 mg of bisglycinate corresponding to 30 mg of magnesium, while Ressource™ provides 562.5 mg of bisglycinate corresponding to 56.25 mg of magnesium. Eclo evidence rating: documented identity and traceability of the form + regulatory nutritional functions of magnesium; the TRAACS® name alone is not used to infer universal clinical superiority.

Why is 562.5 mg of bisglycinate not 562.5 mg of magnesium?
Bisglycinate includes the magnesium and the ligands bound to it. The total weight of the compound is therefore greater than the amount of elemental magnesium. When comparing the nutritional magnesium provided by two supplements, the key figure is the amount of elemental magnesium.

What does TRAACS® / Albion® mean?
Albion® Minerals, within the Balchem portfolio, uses the term TRAACS® for a range of chelated minerals meeting its specifications. Balchem documentation lists magnesium bisglycinate chelate within this range.
This identity improves raw-material traceability and definition. It is not enough to claim “better absorption for everyone” or “the best form of magnesium” without an appropriate clinical comparison.
What can be said about magnesium under EU regulation?
In the European Union, when the conditions of use are met, magnesium has authorized claims including contribution to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal muscle function and reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
An authorized claim describes a function of the nutrient. It is not a clinical study of Régénère™ or Ressource™, and the product must meet the regulatory conditions for any claim used.
Why is the NRV not an “effective dose”?
The nutrient reference value is used for nutritional labelling. 15% NRV does not mean “15% effective”, a minimum effective dose, or a maximum safe level.
